Poetry

Not everything I’ve ever written is here; just what is important enough for others to see. Some of these I wrote back in my younger days and they just stood out to me as worthy, while other are ones I’ve either written recently or just written. Stylistically, it’s all over the place. However, I just hope you find worth in them somehow. Trigger warning: themes of depression and insanity. Not well done because I am lacking in design. Enjoy nonetheless.

That Feeling

That feeling I get,

When she is around.

That feeling I get,

When we ride into town.

That feeling I get,

When she is with me.

That feeling I get,

When I feel like we are meant to be.

That feeling I get,

When I know we are just friends.

That feeling I get,

When I wish we were together until the end.

That feeling I get,

When I first knew.

That feeling I get,

When I am with you.

Don’t I unlearn it?

Fleeting Summer

I lay in the fall

Wondering if all

The seasons of reason

Mean nothing at all

My dreams, they stay strong

But my will, it seems wrong

For the reasons for treason

Plague me, but I play along

Have I ever loved another

Or is this a fleeting summer

All of the others

Gone, or became mothers

You are a treat

But poison I greet

When I feel what’s real

Pain has a seat.

My winter is bitter

My spring is peace

My summer is fleeting

My fall is release

Are you a future lover

Or just a fleeting summer

Do these seasons of treason

Haunt me forever?

A cat

I walked outside today

There was a cat in the distance.

It approached me, eager for my attention.

I gave it some pets, but I felt the need to still check the mail

The cat didn’t follow.

I walked away, hoping it would wait for me.

It didn’t.

I blamed it for not waiting.

But I shouldn’t have checked the mail.

I Can Only Imagine

I can only imagine,

The things they see.

I can only imagine,

The things they want to be.

I can only imagine,

The dreams they dream.

I can only imagine,

How much they know.

I can only imagine,

When we die, where we’ll go.

I can only imagine,

Why people say no.

I can only imagine,

What they want to say.

I can only imagine,

Where they will be someday.

I can only imagine,

The good things that will come today.

A Different View

This view is rather dull,

Should we try another?

All that can be seen here

Is another problem, waiting to be solved.

The trees look tired of the wind,

Always and forever blowing.

The grass seems trampled on

One too many times.

The birds seem to chirps, but

For the reason to escape the onslaught

Of watchers, but instead of flying away

They chirp their angst away.

However, these seem illogical.

What if the trees invite the wind,

But none know of the invitation.

What if the grass is not trampled,

But instead hugging each foot as it walks by.

And, what if the birds aren’t chirping for any reason

Other than to share their voice to the loving world.

See what a different view can do?

A Simple Leap

I closed my eyes and leaped into bed.

I landed, followed by giggles of glee and comfort as I snuggled my blanket and pillow.

I visit my bed everyday, and yet I was so happy to be met by the familiar comfort.

I wasn’t expecting it.

I saw my bed before I closed my eyes. I leaped in the direction of the bed. I even felt it at my knees before my feet left the ground.

It was there. It’s a bed. It wasn’t leaving.

But I wasn’t expecting it to be there.

Why not?

Why didn’t I know the bed was there when I was in mid air?

It was less than a second, but in that second was fear.

Why was I scared?

Why was I so surprised by my bed upon landing into it?

Has a bed ever left me when I trusted it to catch my descent?

Am I just scared of falling even a little?

Oh bed, whose comfort I crave at the end of the bed

Can you assure me mid decent?

Or am I strong enough to assure myself as I fall?

Why even ask you? You’re a bed.

And it’s a simple leap.

Red

I see red at the light

As I wait to drive

This is a new street

But it friendly and alive

I taste red every time

I eat beef mince

The savor hits the seat

Which causes me to wince

I smell red each autumn

As the leaves fall

I wait to appease

But is it worth it at all?

I hear red in the plea

Of a dog barking at me

I’m only here for comfort

But will it ever see?

I feel red in my face

As I figured it out

My mind first felt peace

But then spiraled to doubt

My light is still red

As the others pass

But it’s still red

So it’s not safe for me, is it lass?

Dopamine

Empty I sit in a world unfit

for my needs so i flee

my mind is safe away from heartache

no joy, no play, no pleasure, no fray

no pressure, no strive, so bland, unalive

aware, i cry, i know i’ll die

away, i’m fine. unaware. just decline

to strive, to fail, to struggle, like jail

still stuck, no climb, no luck, not fine

no new, lost hue, cold shoes, rent due

The only reliable is a screen

to keep me alive, thanks dopamine.
